Does any one know if there is a shuttle available to get the kids to the airport for winter break? And if so, what is the schedule and where can I get it? I've search the website, but haven't found anything. Thanx!

In the past Residence Life has provided an airport shuttle on both sides of winter break. You can read about last year's information in the Dec. 2011 / Jan. 2012 newsletter (link on the right of the page or under the "newsletter" tab). My guess is they have not begun their planning for this year's shuttle, but I'll check with them and get back to you. At the very least we will put it in our newsletter when we find out!
Thanks,
Damien

Did you ever get a schedule for this shuttle? Would also be interested in low cost options to get down to Anchorage; appears bus/shuttle runs almost $200 each way via my web searching efforts. Is there a student "ride share" type board/program?
Thanks,
Mike
Permalink Reply by Monika Rempel on November 19, 2012 at 7:53pm It's cheaper to fly to anchorage. Era Aviation flights were running about $149 last I checked for December break time. But a ride share would be fabulous.
Permalink Reply by Damien Snook on November 20, 2012 at 3:16pm I've received that they are running the shuttle this winter, and am waiting to hear back on the schedule. Last year they checked the departure and arrival times and ran it at those times. I called over again today, so hopefully I'll be able to update you tomorrow.
There is a student ride board in Wood Center, where students can indicate if they are looking for or can give a ride to certain locations. It's on a large pillar right inside the building.
As Monika mentioned, Era will give the cheapest flights between Fairbanks and Anchorage. I've had luck occasionally by buying two one-way tickets rather than a round-trip, particularly around the holiday price spikes. It takes a bit of time but could be worth it! I have the best luck using Kayak.com to search for my own tickets, and recommend this to students and families quite a bit.

As you can see from the attached schedule, the shuttle will run Thursday, Dec. 13 – Sunday, Dec. 16. Also in the lower right, you can see incoming flight info for Jan. 15 & 16.
If your student is planning to take the shuttle, make sure you send this PDF as it has all the times and instructions!
